season of motherhood

‘This is part of ARTIFACT MOTHERHOOD - a project shared with other female artists who are documenting our journeys as mothers and creating memories for our children through our photographs and words.

Memories are not formed… they are made. I was reminded of that this week when the temps in Moscow plummeted to -12 c and the canal behind our place froze. Not only this, the sun (welcomed) was out every day resulting in the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Even though I have been struggling with a cold… we set out, quickly, after school ended knowing we had maybe 30 minutes before the sun set.

This beautiful frozen canal was where we made a memory. Freezing our you know whats off as we skated about, together, with friends, in our last winter in Moscow.

I have so many motherhood memories in my 29+ years of being a mom, but today was special. It was just me and my girl and the warmth of the sun.
